Veda Nomura M.S., OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Veda’s background includes 15 years experience working in early childhood special education programs and 17 years experience in K-12 schools ranging from urban to suburban schools. She has extensive experience working with children with a variety of disabilities including autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, behavioral disorders, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome. For the past four years, she has been part of a district-wide multidisciplinary team working with classroom teachers and staff supporting students with challenging behaviors both in general education and special education settings. She has provided many district-wide trainings such as supporting students with autism in the classroom, writing functional behavioral assessments and behavior support plans, creating a positive team, working with students with ADHD, and supporting students with anxiety disorders. She published an article on effective learning environments in Autism-Asperger’s Digest.
Veda Nomura earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Portland State University (PSU) and has a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Minnesota. She is a nationally registered occupational therapist and licensed in the state of Oregon. She completed the autism certificate program through PSU.
James Loveland M.S., NCSP
Behavioral Consultant
James’s background includes over 12 years experience working with children with behavioral challenges in both educational and clinical settings. James has worked as a field therapist for SUWS Wilderness Program in Idaho, a day treatment counselor at St. Mary’s Home for Boys of Beaverton, OR and as a School Psychologist for Portland Public Schools. Most recently, James has served as a member of a specialized collaborative problem solving team working with parents, teachers, and outside agencies to support K-12 students with challenging behaviors throughout the district. James has extensive experience with Functional Behavior Assessment and behavior support planning, formal psycho-educational assessment, consultation with parents, school staff, and private therapists and individual and group counseling. He has experience working with children with a variety of disabilities including autism and other developmental disabilities, ADHD, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, and anxiety disorders. James is committed to helping children and families solve behavior challenges and improve their quality of life.
James earned his Master’s Degree in School Psychology from Lewis & Clark College and has a B.A. in History from Colby College of Waterville, ME. He is a nationally certified School Psychologist and licensed in the state of Oregon.
